flyEgypt launches new domestic network
Egypt’s hybrid airline flyEgypt launches flights from Cairo International Airport to 5 new local destinations starting November 23rd, 2019.
Cairo, Egypt – October 2019 – flyEgypt announced the commencement of its domestic route network in a press conference held at the Royal Maxim Kempinski on the 29th of October, 2019.
The event was attended by the airline’s management team, guests from Egypt’s Civil Aviation authority and members from the press. During the event, Capt. Ihab Tahtawi, flyEgypt’s Chief Executive Officer, reviewed the airline’s history and growth plans. “Launching the domestic network has been a key component of our long-term growth plans, and we’re very excited to be finally seeing this milestone come to life. Not only is it important for us as an airline, but we believe that it helps support tourism and rural employment, which are both critical for Egypt’s national economy,” said Tahtawi.
Karim Baky, the airline’s Chief Commercial Officer then went on to outline details of the new domestic network. At launch, flyEgypt will operate scheduled return flights from Cairo International Airport to Hurghada, Sharm El Sheikh, Marsa Alam, Luxor and Aswan. “We’ll be building up our domestic capacity throughout this year’s winter season and early 2020,” remarked Baky. It is worth noting that tickets are available to book online and through travel agents.
Baky added that flyEgypt will be offering two ticket classes on its domestic flights; Economy class, which includes a complimentary onboard snack, 8kg of cabin baggage allowance, and 21kg of check-in baggage allowance, and Premium Economy class, featuring priority boarding and check-in, seat selection, a complimentary onboard meal, 8kg of cabin baggage allowance and 42kg of check-in baggage allowance. Additional ancillary services would be added later on next year, said Baky.
To coincide with the launch of its domestic service, the airline is also refreshing its identity with an upgraded logo, inspired by the colours and shapes of traditional Nubian architecture. The new brand will also include an uplifted website, a new 15290 hotline for bookings and information, and unique aircraft livery. Updated cabin crew uniform were also showcased, and would be rolled out with the domestic network. “Our new identity represents more than just a new logo; it signifies a more refined vision for the airline and its aspiration to become a recognized Egyptian brand,” said Tahtawi.
Finally, the company also illustrated its new ground handling capabilities, including baggage, catering and aircraft turnaround services. These services give flyEgypt an opportunity to deliver a more consistent product to its passengers, and represent a major achievement for such a young operator. To close, Tahtawi thanked all in attendance, and opened up the floor for questions and answers.
